Alpha Female Fridays - Mbali Nwoko

Today we shine the light on Mbali Nwoko a multi award winning commercial farmer, entrepreneur, professional speaker, blogger, podcaster and columnist for Farmer’s Weekly Magazine. She is the founder and CEO of Green Terrace, which is an agribusiness based in Johannesburg farming swiss chard and sweet peppers, and supplies to leading wholesalers, retailers and fresh produce markets across South Africa.

A farming boss bae❤️✨She has a BCom in Psychology from the University of Johannesburg, worked in corporate and left after being introduced to the world of farming by a friend. She started her farming business in 2016 and now runs a successful 14 hectare farm that’s making big yields in Boksburg, on which she plants Swiss chard, green peppers and green beans.

In the 2017 she was one of the top 20 finalists of Sage Small Business Awards. Her new take on farming includes going digital with farming apps and trying to find improved methods of preserving water and growing quality crops through precision farming.

She is working towards building Green Terrace as a brand and wants to inspire people to get into farming. She also wants to break the stereotype that "women can’t really farm".

Mbali aims to buy her own piece of land and wants to employ more people she has full-time and contract workers and to start exporting her produce. Oh she’s owning this space and we love to see it ✨✨✨
