We provide opportunities for young women of colour to study and be mentored by industry leaders, fostering a safe and inclusive environment where they can grow and develop. Our Founder
Lungile Hlatshwayo
Lungi is a pioneer, charismatic leader and innate problem solver. Her colourful career spans over engineering and consulting, she has a strong technical mechanical engineering background which she merges with her strategy and business acumen from consulting.
She uses this to advise C-suite executives and senior leadership teams on critical decisions that optimize performance, streamline operations, and foster sustainable revenue growth in the mining, retail, transportation and manufacturing industries. She has always believed her purpose was linked to changing the poverty narrative for her family and community.
Alpha female is an extension of who she is and given her upbringing and experiences; she too benefited from things like mentorship and wanted to create a platform that can make an impact in women’s lives and future generations at scale. “We are the change makers we’ve been waiting for!!”
Our Causes
Varsity Gap
Alpha Female's Varsity Gap Programme provides financial support to young women of colour in South Africa who are being financially excluded from universities due to unpaid fees.
We believe that financial barriers should not prevent talented young women from pursuing their academic dreams and career goals.
