Alpha Female Friday - Nomonde Ndwalaza

Trailblazer, Pioneer, iSkhokho are words you’d associate with our Alpha Female today Nomonde Ndwalaza.

Nomonde is a development minded media professional with cumulative experience in radio and television broadcasting, editorial content development, public affairs and media and most recently host community relations in the natural resources sector.

She started her career as a content producer at Talk Radio 702, doing the work of content curation and post on air production of shows such as The Afternoon Drive with Xolani Gwala, SportsTalk with Udo Carelse and the Bookshow with Jenny Cywys Williams. She also was one of the hosts of Rise Talk Show S3 – a television show commissioned by the Soul City Institute of Justice to use television to tap into the transformative power of storytelling to unpack issues such as intimate partner violence (IPV), sexual health etc…

A self-proclaimed ‘nerd with swag’, Nomonde holds a Master’s degree in Global Media and Communication from the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE), an Honours Degree in International Relations (UCT), a Postgraduate Diploma in Media Management (Rhodes University) as well as a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Media Studies and International Relations from Wits University (With Distinction). Nomonde is also a 2019 Mandela Washington Fellow for Young African Leaders (YALI) in the Public Management field.

Currently, Nomonde leads on the external communication relations of one of South Africa’s largest Platinum Group Metals (PGMs) organisations. In her spare time, Nomonde is learning to be a sign language interpreter. Her other hobbies include reading African literature, leisurely working towards being the guitar player of her dreams, listening to podcasts and spending quality time with her loved ones.
